Meet the Leadership Behind LEAD

LEAD Community Foundation is powered by a dedicated Board of Trustees who guide our mission to create mentally healthy communities.

The Board is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the foundation and ensuring that all operations reflect integrity and public accountability. Trustees serve a three-year renewable term, ensuring both continuity and fresh perspectives.

Mr. Kelvin Opiepie

Kelvin Opiepie

Executive Director

Kelvin Opiepie is the Founder and Executive Director of the LEAD Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing mental health awareness through proactive community engagement, advocacy, and innovative solutions that create meaningful and lasting change.

Drawing from his own lived experiences, Kelvin is deeply committed to transforming mental health strategies in Africa and beyond. His work has earned him international recognition and advisory roles in key mental health research projects.

He currently serves as a Lived Experience Advisor for the Landscaping International Longitudinal Datasets Project, a collaboration between MQ Mental Health Research and King’s College London, and in 2023, he was appointed to the Global Lived Experiential Advisory Board (Gleab) for the GALENOS Project in the United Kingdom.

Kelvin has also contributed articles to reputable journals around the world, influencing global conversations on mental health, recovery, and leadership from lived experience perspectives.

He is actively involved in groundbreaking research with MQ Mental Health Research and The Lancet Psychiatry, working alongside other lived experience experts to study the impact of COVID-19 on mental health. Their second paper, “Mental Health After the COVID-19 Pandemic: Policy and Public Health,” has been accepted for publication in The Lancet Psychiatry, further highlighting his role in shaping evidence-based mental health policy.

Through a combination of personal insight, rigorous research, and mentorship, Kelvin has supported over 1,500 individuals, fostering leadership, recovery, and community-based advocacy. His work continues to champion accessible mental health systems, informed policies, and holistic support structures for communities in Africa and around the world.

Blessed Eseigbe

Executive Assistant

Eseigbe Blessed Osakue is a passionate teacher, certified by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), with over a decade plus of teaching experience and four years of active engagement as a mental health advocate. He currently serves as Executive Assistant at LEAD Community Foundation, an NGO with presence in both East and West Africa, dedicated to promoting mental health literacy across communities.

In his role, Blessed supports strategic outreach, educational programs, and youth-focused initiatives that drive awareness, inclusion, and long-term impact. He holds a degree in Health, Safety, and Environmental Education (HSE) from the University of Benin, and brings a well-rounded perspective to his work in both education and advocacy.

His certifications in leadership, mental health first aid, psychological first aid, suicide prevention and workplace safety complement his practical experience, enabling him to approach education and advocacy with depth and balance. Driven by purpose and guided by empathy, Blessed continues to champion initiatives that promote inclusive learning, emotional resilience, and youth empowerment, creating environments where individuals and communities can thrive.
